Access to electricity during extreme situations has become more critical, especially with more severe weather events occurring as a result of climate change. Our client is a leading energy technology company that provides advanced power grid software solutions. They needed to transform their approach of building and selling the most reliable, durable, efficient, and environmentally-friendly generators and power equipment to their expansive network of loyal sellers and stakeholders.

To shine brighter than competitors, the energy company needed to streamline its e-commerce experience to keep pace with the industry and gain loyalty of its sellers and stakeholders, including 7,000 dealers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers worldwide.

They needed engineering expertise to build a powerful platform to enhance the e-commerce portal, and up-sell/cross-sell products while unlocking data opportunities within the B2B and B2C dealers and distribution networks.

Engineering a megawatt platform solution

Ascendion engineers built an end-to-end digital commerce platform solution encompassing business analysis, UI/UX, solution design, development, implementation, configuration, and support of both new and updated online sales channels.

We co-engineered a robust and scalable SAP B2B commerce platform based on SAP Hybris and streamlined the integration with diverse backend SAP systems. Distributors could now search for products on the updated, intelligent catalog based on their association with the brand. They could quickly access content, analytics, online ordering, and update dealer information.

The accounts, products, and pricing information were replicated to SAP Hybris using Datahub. Users could add to the shopping cart, configure a product, view pricing, and shipping costs seamlessly. We created a seamless experience: submitting the order in SAP Hybris resulted in orders being created in SAP CRM, which were replicated to SAP ECC for fulfillment.
